If a student says "the class code doesn't work," walk through these checks.
Issue: "Invalid class code"
Step 1: Verify the code character by character Class codes are case-sensitive and exact. Common mistakes:
"O" (letter) vs. "0" (number)
"I" (letter) vs. "1" (number) vs. "l" (lowercase L)
Extra space at the beginning or end
Typos in long codes
Have the student type the code with you watching, or share it in a way they can copy-paste (e.g., LMS message).
Step 2: Verify you're sharing the right code
Open your classroom.
Click the blue Share Class Code button in the top-right.
Copy the code that appears.
Compare it with what the student is using.
If they don't match, the student has the wrong code — possibly from a different teacher or a previous year.
Step 3: Check that the classroom still exists
If you deleted the classroom (or accidentally deleted it), the class code stops working. Check your All Classes view to confirm the classroom still exists.
Issue: Code Works But Student Can't Complete Registration
If the student enters the code successfully but gets stuck during registration:
They may already have an Intertwined account under a different email — have them try logging in first, then joining via class code from their dashboard
They may need to verify their email before joining a class — check their inbox for a verification email
Their school email may be blocking Intertwined's verification email — try a personal email if school allows
Issue: Code Works on One Device, Not Another
If the class code works on a personal phone but not a school Chromebook (or vice versa):
The school may be blocking Intertwined-related domains
The browser may have stale cache from a previous registration attempt
A browser extension may be interfering
Try a different browser, clear cache, or use an incognito/private window.
Issue: Student Was Removed From Class — Now Code Doesn't Work
If a student was removed from your classroom (intentionally or accidentally) and they're trying to rejoin with the same code:
The code still works, but they may need to log into their existing account first, then re-join
They shouldn't create a new account — that creates duplication
Issue: Maximum Students Reached
Some plans have student count limits. If your classroom has hit the max:
Existing students are unaffected
New students using the class code won't be able to join until you upgrade or remove inactive students
Check your plan tier in Account Settings to confirm whether you've hit a cap.
Re-Sharing the Class Code Effectively
If multiple students have had trouble with the class code, consider:
Posting it in your LMS for easy copy-paste
Sending it via email to each student
Printing it on a handout with step-by-step registration instructions
Walking the class through registration together on the first day
This eliminates typo and miscommunication issues that cause most class code failures.
