The Business Startup Simulator lets students launch and run a virtual company against AI-generated scenarios personalized to their industry track. You control how hard the experience is — and where the guardrails sit — through your class's Startup Simulator Settings.
Finding Startup Simulator Settings
Open a specific class from the Classes tab. On the default Quick Links panel on the right side of your screen, click Startup Simulator Settings. From here you'll set the difficulty and the fail points for that class.
Choosing a Difficulty
You have three options — Easy, Medium, and Hard — which control how forgiving loans, market events, and financial variables are. Medium is the default and recommended setting for most classes. For a full breakdown with example scenarios, see Business Startup Simulator: Difficulty Levels Explained.
Understanding the Four Fail Points
Fail points are the thresholds that signal a student's business is in trouble. They help steer students away from poor entrepreneurial decisions before the business collapses. You can set a fail point for each of:
Current Market Value — the overall valuation of the student's business.
Employee Wellness — the health and morale of the student's workforce.
Gross Revenue — total income before expenses.
Profit/Loss — what's left after expenses are subtracted.
Setting these thoughtfully lets you tune how much room students have to recover from mistakes versus how quickly consequences hit.
